As usual, bold what you have read, italicise what you attempted, and strike through what you couldn't stand. Add an asterisk* to those you've read more than once. Underline those on your to-read list. If you haven't heard of them, just leave 'em alone.

Christmas Wrap-Up (Pun Intended)
06:51pm 26/12/2006
mood: loved
WOW. I can't believe Christmas is finally over. It seemed to come and go so fast this year, it's a little hard to grasp everything.. but i'll try.

I got lots of awesome stuff this year and was very happy to give out what I thought were thoughtful gifts to those closest to me. Everyone who gave something to me did a great job of knowing exactly what I would want or need and I can honestly say that I didn't get anything weird or random this year.

Christmas week started out with Aaron and I going out to dinner with Karina, Moe and Nessa to exchange gifts. We went out to this yummy restaurant in Fullerton called "Heroes" where the prices were low, the portions were HUGE and they had over 100 beers on tap. Upon exchanging gifts, we found that Moe and Nessa bought us an official Slurpee machine, which Aaron and I will be using to make alcoholic beverages with very soon. Karina completely blew us away with the most amazing gift ever, tickets to see My Chemical Romance and Rise Against at the Forum!!!!!! Needless to say, we were stoked about our gifts! They seemed to like what we got them as well, so it was a successful evening all around.

Aaron and I did our traditional thing, which is to open our gifts to each other before we leave for my familys house. He did an AMAZING job this year!!!! He really showed me how much he knows about me and I could tell that he put a lot of thought into the gifts he gave to me. He got me:

An Emily Strange Calendar
The Gospel According to Biff book
Family Guy Trivia DVD game
A Sudoku puzzle-a-day desk Calendar
The Audrey Hepburn DVD Collection
An old-school microphone (like the one tattooed on my arm)
A jewelry box
Real Gucci sunglasses
and this GORGEOUS promise ring!!!

I got him a $1200 Mesa Boogie Solo Rectifier Amp!

I know it sounds cheap to say that I only got him one gift when he got me so many, but we were both ecstatic about what we got!

Saturday morning we got up and eventually made our way (in traffic) to spend the weekend with my family. First we went to my sisters new home, which they had just finished moving into that morning. The house is beautiful and much bigger than their old place and I was really happy to see how excited my neice and nephew were about having their own rooms. Later on that evening we all drove up to Victorville to stay for the rest of the holiday weekend at my parents house. It is always a blast to hang out with my family and get to spend some quality time with them.

Sunday (Christmas Eve) me, Aaron, Shamie, Robert and the kids, and my parents all went over to my aunt Kims house for brunch with my entire extended family. We ate ourselves retarded while getting collectively drunk off of Bloody Marys and Mamosas. Aaron and Robert even added to the occasion by breaking out my uncles bartending guide and making all kinds of funky shots (which even my mother partook of.) It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed hanging out with my family, especially my aunts and my cousin Fern who I hardly ever get to see anymore.

Sunday night we just chilled out at my parents house and my Mom made homemade chili and cornbread for us all. It was SOOOOO good and Aaron wants me to get the recipe so I can make it for us at home, lol. I had a bit of an emotional breakdown on Sunday night that I won't go into too much detail about. Basically, years of bad-blood between my biological father and me bubbled up to the surface. Poor Mom and Shamie had to sit around listening to me crying my eyes out about things years-past. I did feel better after I got it all out though and pretty much avoided talking to Bio-Dad the entire weekend.

Monday morning the kids were up by 7 am and we all made our way downstairs to let them go crazy and open their gifts. Skylar was so excited when she looked down to the first floor and saw that there was a giant Dora the Explorer doll waiting for her, we had to carry her downstairs. My family seemed to really like the stuff we got them and Aaron and I were both VERY happy with the gifts we received. I got the COOLEST Fender Amp and Guitar salt and pepper set that my mom didn't even know I had been wanting!!!

After that, we went and borrowed my cousins PS2 (we had left ours at home) so that we could all play Guitar Hero 2 (which my parents had gotten for Aaron.) We had a blast playing the game and seeing if we could beat each others scores. We had a very nice Christmas Ham dinner and then sat around feeling fat for a while before getting into our cars to brave the traffic home.

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend and I am once again left feeling awed and blessed with the family and friends I am so lucky to have in my life.

Aaron - You are such a good man and a thoughtful boyfriend. I am so proud to be able to call you mine. Thank you for yet another great holiday. I look forward to many more with you. I love you hunny.

Karina - You ROCK like nobodys business! Thank you for being the best friend a girl could ask for!!!! Sisters for life!!!!

Mommy - You did an EXCELLENT job and I was thrilled with the things you thought to give me. Nobody knows me like you do, no one ever will. You can always count on me to be there for our traditional Christmas morning!

Shamie - What would I ever do without you? Sisters by chance, Friends by choice.

Daddy - You are everything I could have ever asked for in a Father. I may not be your daughter biologically, but you are certainly the only Dad I will ever need.

Everyone else - I only have people that I know and care about on my friends list, which means that if you are reading this, you mean alot to me. Thank you for being in my life. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc.

It doesn't take a genius to see that you're no better than any other whispering gnat
That you offer nothing original or even clever to say
That you're simply jealous of the things that other people accomplish
While you sit idly by dreaming up another way that you're "better" than everyone else

Too bad that you're not you poor, pathetic little server girl
Too bad that you haven't managed to finish college or get a job that doesn't depend on tips
It's fine though. Go ahead and sit on your high horse, i'm sure the view is lovely
(When you aren't able to see everything that you're not).

Newborns in Need
09:26pm 10/10/2006
mood: grateful
Hey everybody, I'm doing some volunteer work for a charity organized to take care of sick and needy babies and their families.

When a child is born to a needy family, and it comes time to leave the hospital, many times that tiny baby may be wearing just a disposable diaper. Sometimes there's not even a receiving blanket waiting for them at home-if they even have a home to go to. In winter, that means there is a good chance the baby will be back in the hospital with pneumonia, or worse.

The foundation I am volunteering for provides sick and needy premature and newborn babies with the essentials that they need. Basically, single-mothers, families and fostered/abandoned babies are given Care Kits that provide them with everything they need from diapers to clothes to formula. I'll be having a drive and collecting these items for the next couple of weeks to be sent out the second week of November (in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas). It's getting cold out and there are needy babies out there who could use our help. Anything you can give would be appreciated, it doesnt matter how big or small your donation is, Just give what you can :)

Here's the list of what is needed:
Sleepers (preemie and newborn)
Gowns (preemie and newborn)
Pacifiers (many hospitals do not have pacifiers to give babies to calm them after surgery or while babies are stressed, this is an urgent and most important item)
Baby hygiene items such as baby powder, baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby soap, diaper rash cream, etc
Quilts, baby afghans and blankets
Crib sheets
Baby formula - all kinds.
Receiving blankets
Bassinet Sheets
Outfits - tops, bottoms, sets, clothing
Burp cloths
Diapers - preemie, newborn, and older disposable diapers. Cloth diapers are appreciated.
Bottles - preemie, 4 ounce and 8 ounce bottles - all types. Bottle lines are also appreciated.
Comfort toys
Booties, socks and shoes
Diaper Bags
Changing pads
Baby hats

If you'd like to donate to the cause please let me know and I will make arrangements to pick the items up from you.

Thank you to everyone who will help out, contact me if you have any questions!!

Today was a great day!!!

I woke up this morning to kisses and a "Happy Valentines Day, Hunny" whisper in my ear. After we had showered and gotten ready for work Aaron and I exchanged our gifts. He got me a GIANT stuffed animal of a giraffe (my favorite animal), "The Notebook" on DVD , a bag of hersheys "kissables" candy and a cute card with a super sweet note written inside. I got him a book about guitars, a "how-to" kit for playing the air guitar (LMAO), a set of pilsner glasses and the Coheed and Cambria DVD/CD set. It was really great to see how well we know each other and we were both thoroughly stoked about our gifts.

We went to work and got a lovely kharmic bonus when, towards the end of the day, the power went out on the whole block and everyone got sent home early. It may have only been a half an hour early for us, but it was still awesome.

Upon returning home we chilled out for a little while, each of us watching our new DVD's and then Aaron took me out to dinner for Seafood and Sushi... NUMMY!!!!

I am so stuffed and so giggly right now. Aaron tried really hard to make today special and put me on a pedastool, which he succeeded at with flying colors!!! I couldn't have asked for a better day or a better boyfriend.

I hope everyone had a great day.. I know I did!

Ground rules: The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "Five Weird Habits of Yourself" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged.

+ I can't stand for drawers or cabinets to be left open, even a little bit. I'll sit where ever I am stewing on the fact that something is open and I can't relax or concentrate on anything else until it's shut. I'm the same way with crooked picture frames as well.

+ I love the sound of plastic being rubbed on other plastic. When i'm in the grocery store I like to move the pre-packaged meats around to hear the sound of it :)

+ I won't drink milk unless it has ice in it. It has to be REALLY cold for me to like it at all.

+ Whenever I knock on wood, I have to knock three times. If I don't, I feel like something is going to go terribly wrong and I say a little prayer to ask for special attention on whatever it was I was knocking about, then I knock on wood again (three times) lol

+ Certain books stew up specific emotions for me, so when I am need of that particular feeling in my life, I will sit down and read that book again until I feel satisfied that the feeling has been obtained.

I tag: Kevin, Lyndsi, Charlotte, Kacy, Dani

I don't tag: Brandon, because he never reads anyones blogs anymore

Ok so I have attempted to write this blog on a couple of occasions since Xmas, but I have been SO SICK AS A DOG that it's been far too difficult to accomplish. I don't even know how much sense this is going to make considering that I just woke up from a three and a half hour nap that was induced by the liquid vicodin my olg-guy-doctor gave me. I'm also on these anti-viral pills that make me feel all icky and thirsty. But eh, at least i'm alive and this is an illness that can be cured, I should feel so lucky.

I had an amazing Christmas!!

Friday the 23rd:

Aaron and I had our gift exchange for each other. We had to do it then because we were going up to my parents house for the weekend and didnt want to have to lug all of that stuff up there with us too. lol. They let us out of work early that day (4 PM) so we went home and started our very first Christmas together. I have to say, we did a really good job!!! We went a little crazy on spoiling each other, but it was awesome.

I got Aaron:

An Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic guitar

3 Humbucker pickups (to fix up some of his other guitars he already has)

A set of Guinness pajamas

A fender long sleeved dress shirt (that he looks sooooo hot in)

A fender t-shirt

A fender trucker hat (AGAIN, excellent choice, *swoon*)

A pair of Energie "SIXTY" jeans

"Where the wild things are" childrens book

Some hybrid super slinky strings

and some picks.

He loved everything alot (especially his guitar) and took the time to tell me "You did a great job. I love everything I got Babe." I was very happy!!!

Aaron got me:

A portable DVD player with an 8 inch screen

A really nice DVD player carrying case with lots of pockets and stuff

March of the Penguins DVD

Stewie Griffin Movie DVD

Post Secret Hardback Book

A big fluffy pink robe

A spatula (inside joke on this one, but believe me it's a cute thing)

A cute kitty cat Calendar

That night we spent all of our time together drinking wine and watching movies. It was really nice and I couldn't have asked for anything better!

Saturday the 24th:

We got up and lounged around a bit before making our way up to Victorville. My dads birthday is actually on Christmas Eve, so when we got there we gave him his birthday gift, which was this cool West Coast Choppers dickies style jacket. When I saw it in the store I thought that he would really like it, but it turns out he had just seen Jesse James on tv wearing one and had commented to my mom that he wanted one like it. So we ended up getting him the perfect gift!! He was totally stoked!! Anyone who knows my father knows that he is not an easy man to shop for.

Aaron and I went with my mom to go visit Bio-Dad, who was in town at my grandmas house for the holidays. We didn't stay very long, and ended up going back to my parents house within about a half an hour in order to meet Sham, Robert and the kids. This is the first Chirstmas eve that I have been able to spend with my family in about 6 years, so it was really neat having that extra time with them. Jacob kept reminding me to stay up and tell Santa that he had been a good boy this year. It was sooo cute. The evening was a little bitter-sweet because I missed Moe's family and wanted to call them and wish them a Merry Christmas, but I didn't want to make it weird for anyone, so I didn't.

We didn't stay up too late because we knew the kids would be getting us up at the buttcrack of dawn to open presents. When we went to bed, Mom had left new pj's for us on the bed to sleep in which was really cool. Shamarie said it was like staying at the "Seiberling Bed and Breakfast".

Sunday the 25th:

My parents managed to keep the kids from going downstairs til about 7 AM when the heater in the house kicked on and it made my parents bedroom door slam a little bit. Dad said Jacob sat up with big eyes and said "PaPa is that Santa!?!?"

We all went downstairs and proceeded to open the tons of stuff we all (and Santa ) had gotten for each other. Sham and Robert got Aaron this Napoleon Dynamite talking action figure that he LOVED. My parents got him lots of stuff like shirts and some new vans and some cool toys like remote control cars. He seemed very happy and appreciative at the show of love he got from everyone.

I was really happy with everyones reaction to their gifts we got them. Aaron picked out my Dads gift, which was a touch-screen 16 unit Universal Remote control. The thing was awesome and my dad was really happy about it. We got my mom Gold and Diamond hoop earrings, which she seemed to really like. We got Shamarie some DKNY pajamas and chonies and some soaps and candles, and Robert got some flannel boxer short pajamas. Honestly I was most excited about what we got the kids, lol. We got Skylar this adorable little pair of PePe jeans, a black t-shirt with a pink skull and crossbones (wearing a bow) on it and a little pink DKNY jacket. She looked so cute!!!! For Jakey we got a little dickies jacket and went around and bought a bunch of band patches and had them sewn on. He got his very first little punker jacket! He looked so awesome in it. As soon as I get pictures, I will post them, because you have to see this jacket in order to truly appreciate it.

After we opened gifts and stuff, Mom made us kids take pictures together in front of the Christmas tree. She loves those holiday couples pics lol. Then for the rest of the day we all sat around in our pajamas playing with toys and playing board games. I wish I would have gotten a picture of Skylar and Aaron laying on the couch together watching football, it was so cute!

After we got home, I get a phone call from Moe "Merry Christmas Grandma". I asked him "Grandma?" he said "North had her puppies tonight!" I was so excited I cried a little bit. Apparently there was a little bit of trouble with the first one and Eliza had to help her out, but everything tunred out well and there are now four perfect Poohuahua's in existance!

So, other than being horrifically sick, it was an amazing Christmas and I am so thankful for everything I received and for being able to spend it with the people that I did. I truly love my family with all of my heart and it doesn't take much to remind me of why I should feel so lucky to have them in my life.

Aaron: You did AWESOME babe. Everything you got for me was perfect, and I really appreciate how well you know me. Thank you for staying in Cali to spend Christmas with me and my family. It meant alot to me, just as you do. I <3 U

Shamarie: Will you buy me a monkey?

Moe: I can't believe we're grandparents while still in our 20's.. we should go on Jerry Springer... well I guess we could go on there for lots of reasons, but this is the only one i'll claim to! HA HA HA

Eliza: Thank you SOOOOOOOO much for helping with Norths delivery. She means so very much to me and I can't tell you enough how grateful I am for what you did. You've got a friend in me.

Gouche: Thanks for the cool stuff, Aaron is still in awe of what you got him

I feel optimistic today. I feel like, for the first time in a long time, everything is going to be alright. I have been so worried lately about people and what they think of me. What they think and feel about the decisions I have made. Beating myself up over the fact that people that I care about have been intentionally avoiding me because of said decisions. I can’t let those things bother me anymore. If I continue to tear myself up about the things that I can’t control, then I’ll be letting all of that get in the way of the wonderful things that I have been experiencing.

I haven’t felt so connected, so real, so comfortable, so not-scared of what the future holds in years. It feels so good to sit back and relax and honestly believe that things are going well.

There will be more changes. More decisions. More things that I am sure will hurt and piss people off. But honestly, I’m willing to work through that, because the truth of the matter is, I couldn’t be happier about where things are headed. Life is crazy and a little unexpected… but I don’t care. I’m happy about it and I honestly hope that my friends will come around about things. Support the decisions. Support me and the things I chose for my life and stick by me like I would stick by them. I’m so sorry to have hurt you (You know who you are) but I have to do what I think is right for me and my life.. And this is it.

I love you all, More than life itself really.
